Mrs. Joyce Kellen - Grade 2

Welcome to 2nd Grade!  This is a very special year in your child’s faith journey as they prepare and receive Reconciliation and Eucharist for the first time.  I am very excited to be able to guide your child during this preparation plus all the other things they will be learning this year.

About Me

My name is Joyce Kellen.  I am married to Keith who is a grain farmer and a carpenter.  We live on a farm between Granville and Alton. I enjoy baking goodies, walking, spending time with family, and reading.

Educational Background

I graduated from Briar Cliff College in Sioux City with degrees in Psychology and Elementary Education.  Later I received my Early Childhood Endorsement from Morningside College in Sioux City.

Teaching Experience

I began my teaching career in Sioux City at Immaculate-Conception School (now Mater Dei) and spent five years teaching fourth grade there.  Then I was hired at St. Patrick’s to teach first grade.  I did this for 13 years and then moved to kindergarten for 10 years.  Then I engaged in a new adventure at Spalding Catholic in Alton, teaching second grade for one year.  Now I have returned to St. Patrick’s, and I am in my fifth year of teaching second grade.
